3 Household Items You Need After Quarantine

Many household items quickly went out of stock when the COVID-19 outbreak was just beginning to spread in the United States. However, as stock has returned for many items, its a good time to think about what you need to stay safe.

Many states are lifting former closures and trying to get life back to a pre-coronavirus reality. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended several items for purchase. Here are three of the best household items you need to stop the spread and stay clean during this pandemic and after quarantine.

1. Hand sanitizer

Washing your hands is still the best way to keep the virus at bay. However, hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content is also very effective, the CDC reports. Look out for the alcohol content so as not to get the less effective substitute, benzalkonium chloride. While it may be hard to find hand sanitizer online, many stores are have them on the shelves now. The World Health Organization (WHO) even shared a DIY on making your own hand sanitizer. Its also worth a try.

2. Hand Soap

Everyone knows to wash your hands. Antibacterial soap is the best for killing germs, but even ordinary hand soap can get the job done. Be sure to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds especially after using public transportation, using the bathroom, blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

3. Disinfectant Spray

Disinfectant sprays like those from Lysol can help kill germs and potentially harmful bacteria on surfaces. The CDC suggests getting disinfectant sprays with at least 70% alcohol content. Lysol Clean & Fresh Multi-Surface Cleaner is now available for purchase on Amazon. Get it quickly before it sells out.

Many more items are easier to find these days including toilet paper, dish washing soap, and if you look hard enough and buy them quick enough-- disinfectant wipes.
